چکیده

A discrete model based on a nonlinear difference equation (equivalent to a coupled map lattice of high dimension) is used to study the dynamics of a circulating pulse in a ring of excitable media, such as cardiac cells. Based on the global and local properties of monotonic restitution and dispersion curves, criteria are obtained for the asymptotic stability of the unique steady state (pulse circulating at constant frequency) as well as for non-convergent oscillatory behavior of all non-equilibrium trajectories (pulse circulating at variable frequency). We also demonstrate that in certain cases the system is bistable, where an asymptotically stable equilibrium coexists with stable oscillatory solutions.

Unique Solution of Short Pulse Propagation in Nonlinear Fiber Bragg Grating

In this study, a new numerical method is introduced to obtain the exact shape of output pulse in the chalcogenide fiber Bragg grating (FBG). A Gaussian pulse shape with 173 ps width is used as an input pulse for lunching to a 6.6 mm nonlinear FBG. Because of bistable and hysteresis nature of nonlinear FBG the time sequence of each portion of pulse is affected the shape of output pulse. So we di...

Theory of block-pulse functions in numerical solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second ‎kind‎

Recently, the block-pulse functions (BPFs) are used in solving electromagnetic scattering problem, which are modeled as linear Fredholm integral equations (FIEs) of the second kind. But the theoretical aspect of this method has not fully investigated yet. In this article, in addition to presenting a new approach for solving FIE of the second kind, the theory of both methods is investigated as a...

Selective Determination of Trace-Bismuth by Extraction-Differential Pulse Polarography in Non-Aqueous Media

The voltammetric characteristics of bismuth(III)-oxinate in chloroform at the mercury electrode were investigated and a quasi-reversible behavior for Bi(III) oxinate reduction was confirmed. Preceded by the extraction of Bi(III) oxinate in chloroform, differential pulse polarography was developed in the extracts for determination of the trace-bismuth. The linear range of the calibration gra...

Investigation of Pressure Pulse Distribution in Porous Media

Diffusivity equation commonly used for pressure distribution prediction in porous media results from substituting equation of state and continuity equation in Navier-Stokes momentum equation. From mathematical point of view this equation format shows infinite propagation speed for pressure pulse through porous media, which is physically impossible. This issue may caused by numerous assumption...
